Central Valley History
Central Valley Town was first settled in the fall of 1874. Pioneer families settled along the Sevier River. First homes were small shacks or dugouts. In 1875, William Morrison, a probate Judge from Richfield, was called to lay out the town site. He called it Inverury, which was the name of the town in Scotland he came from. In 1940, the name of the town was changed to Central. In 1988, to satisfy US Postal needs, it became necessary to put up street signs and change the name to Central Valley. In 2005 Central Valley was incorporated and became a town in the State of Utah. The population at that time was about 400 people. Now, Central Valley Town has about 650 people and 250 homes.
